BENCHES AND DESKS WHITE BOARDS SHARING WITH SCHOOLS IN THE UK

A lot of schools in Nepal have been completely rebuilt since the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the country on the 25th April 2015. It was a Saturday, the only day of the week that children are not at school in Nepali society; many schools were destroyed but luckily children were not inside.

However, many schools are still painfully ill-equipped. The funding provided for each rebuild should cover things like desks, benches and other learning equipment. Unfortunately, Nepal experiences corruption and the funds for these smaller items are easier to ciphon off to somewhere it is not supposed to be, and the funds may take years to reappear or be granted again.

SO OUR AIM IS TO SEE A SHIFT…

FROM THIS…

TO THIS…

This makes a huge difference to the schools, making them more appealing to local families, and ensuring that young children do not have to walk up to an hour to a school that does have equipment, rather than attending their local school.
It inspires pride in their education.

WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE MORE…

Shree Devistan school had very little before we fundraised for them. This video shows what it was like for them and the vast difference that the new equipment has made.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Providing equipment is fundamental; a basic need of the school. Next on the level of importance is the quality of teaching. We realise that a school can have a lot of equipment but if it’s not utilised then it is useless.
We are now researching the possibility of offering teacher trainings as well as providing equipment, to support the overall school’s development.

GET INVOLVED

We are always looking for collaborators or financial help. We need furniture for schools and more menstruation kits. If you would like to get involved please get in touch.
